WABA Connection & Permission Issues

5 Min Read·Updated 2026·Meta Official API

Connecting your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) via the Meta (Facebook) popup is usually straightforward, but sometimes issues can arise related to permissions or account visibility. Here's how to troubleshoot the most common problems.

Problem: No WABAs Appear in the Connection Popup

You click "Connect to WhatsApp via Facebook," and the popup window appears, but the list of WhatsApp Business Accounts is empty or doesn't show the one you want to connect.

Cause: This almost always means that the Facebook user you are currently logged in with in your browser does not have admin access to the Meta Business Manager that owns the WABA.

Solution:

  1. Check Your Facebook Account: Make sure you are logged into the correct Facebook personal profile that is an admin of your company's Meta Business Manager.
  2. Verify Business Manager Permissions:
    • Log in to Meta Business Suite.
    • Navigate to Settings > People.
    • Find your name in the list and confirm you have "Full control" (admin) access.
    • Go to Business Assets, find your WhatsApp Business Account in the list, and ensure your name is listed with full control access there as well.
  3. Log Out and Retry: Log out of Facebook completely, then log back in with the correct admin account. Go back to LeadClose and try the connection process again.

Problem: Connection Fails with a Permission Error

You complete the popup flow, but LeadClose shows an error message like "Permission Denied" or "Could not fetch WABA details."

Cause: You may not have granted all the required permissions during the popup flow. LeadClose requires permissions for whatsapp_business_management and whatsapp_business_messaging to function correctly.

Solution:

  1. Re-initiate the Connection: Click the "Connect" button in LeadClose again.
  2. Review Permissions Carefully: When the Meta popup appears, do not just click "Continue" on every step. Look for a screen that asks you to approve permissions. There might be a link to "Choose what you allow."
  3. Ensure All Permissions are Toggled On: Make sure that all toggles for managing your WABA and sending messages are enabled. If you disable any of the required permissions, the integration will fail.
  4. Complete the Flow: Finish the connection process with all permissions enabled.

If you continue to have trouble, you may need to remove the LeadClose integration from your Meta Business Integrations and then start the connection process over from scratch.
