How to Build a Sales Funnel on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is an ideal platform for building a conversational sales funnel because it allows you to guide a customer from initial awareness to a final purchase through personal, timely interactions. Here’s how you can structure a sales funnel using LeadClose.

Stage 1: Awareness & Lead Generation (Top of Funnel)

The goal here is to get potential customers to start a conversation with you.

  • Click-to-WhatsApp Ads: Run targeted ads on Facebook and Instagram. Instead of a landing page, the CTA button opens a WhatsApp chat. This has a much lower barrier to entry.
  • QR Codes: Place QR codes on physical products, marketing materials, or in-store displays.
  • Website Widgets: Use a "Chat on WhatsApp" button on high-traffic pages of your website.
  • Lead Magnet Delivery: Offer a free e-book or guide. When a user signs up on your website, deliver it via a WhatsApp message template instead of email.

Stage 2: Interest & Qualification (Middle of Funnel)

Once a lead messages you, the goal is to qualify them and nurture their interest.

  • Automated Welcome: Use a Welcome Message auto-reply to engage them instantly and ask a qualifying question (e.g., "Hi! Thanks for your interest. Are you looking for solutions for personal use or for a business?").
  • Keyword Automations: Set up rules to answer common initial questions about pricing, features, or services instantly.
  • Live Chat with Agents: Once the initial automated interaction is done, an agent takes over in the Team Inbox. They can answer specific questions, understand the customer's needs, and provide personalized recommendations.
  • Tagging: As agents chat with leads, they should apply relevant tags (e.g., Interest-ProductA, High-Budget, FollowUp-Required).

Stage 3: Consideration & Decision (Bottom of Funnel)

At this stage, you need to provide the final push to encourage a purchase.

  • Send Personalized Proposals: Use Document Templates to send customized quotes or proposals as PDFs.
  • Carousel Templates for Comparisons: If a customer is deciding between a few options, send a Carousel Template where each card details a different product or plan.
  • Abandoned Cart Recovery: For e-commerce, this is a critical bottom-of-funnel tactic. Send a reminder message to customers who leave items in their cart.
  • Schedule Demos/Calls: Use Quick Reply buttons to make scheduling a final sales call or demo effortless.

Stage 4: Post-Purchase & Retention

The funnel doesn't end at the sale.

  • Order Confirmation: Send an immediate Utility Template to confirm the purchase and provide order details.
  • Onboarding/Tips: A few days later, send a campaign to a segment of "New Customers" with tips on how to use their new product.
  • Request Feedback: Ask for a review or feedback to improve your service.
  • Re-engagement: Add customers to a "Past Customers" segment and send them targeted offers in the future to encourage repeat business.

By mapping out these stages and using the tools in LeadClose, you can build a highly effective conversational sales funnel on WhatsApp.
